How to Portforward

Post by {EOTS}HHRoadKK » Sun Dec 07, 2008 9:19 pm

Since KillerAce was wondering i decided to put up a guide:

Im using uTorrent and a WRT54G router from Linksys

Step 1: Find what Port you need to forward:
*blured for my own security even though i wont need it*
Image

============================================================================

Step 2: Find your Local IP
Vista:
Start> Search/Run Bar> cmd
XP:
Start> Run... > cmd

Image

This should come up:
Image

Type in ipconfig /all

Image

Your Local IP is the "IPv4 Adress......... 192.168.x.1xx"

Image

============================================================================

Step 3: Now to your broswer and open up your Router, in most cases thats 192.168.1.1, but mine is 192.168.2.1. Anyways type that address into your address bar and it should open up the log in window

IE:

FF:

Now type in your log in name and password. Whatever you have changed it to or if you didnt and dont know most defaults are either:
admin or admin
admin 12345

Now once inside, for Linksys Routers its like this and im sure its just about the same for other routers, locate Applications & Gaming (possibly called Ports in other routers) and fill in the info on any line:

Hit Save/Save Settings and viola you now have just forwarded your port.

Not a bad guide. Well the user/pass is usually admin/admin or root/admin or admin/password1 I've never heard of 12345.

i've never heard of root/admin *shrugs*

Also i forget the simple admin/password :X

I did have a 12345 for one of my old modems so i assumed routers could have the same

Or like when I host my AA server I have to tell my router which computer the server is being hosted on. :P

For all ya'll who are still using the default firmware, get something better :P

Buy me a new laptop then, lol. Mine is 1400px wide, that's a pretty decent resolution.

Torrents are not stealing, don't be naive. Torrents have MANY valid uses. Hell, I just downloaded Ubuntu using a torrent. And I downloaded a school program using a torrent. They were both FREE SOFTWARE and the torrents were distributed by the owners of the software. Two examples and there are thousands more.
